BOOK ABOUT GROWING UP IN THE MOJAVE DESERT AVAILABLE LOCALLY

Growing up in the Morongo Basin is a unique experience. The desert life often leaves an impression on those raised here. A former Twentynine Palms resident recently published a book taking a walk down memory lane and reflecting on growing up here in the Mojave Desert. Reporter Cassidy Taylor tells you where you can grab your copy.

One With The Creosote – Memories of a Desert Child, written by Chris Tiffany, is a book that reflects on her childhood growing up on the Mojave Desert during the ’50s and ’60s. Tiffany grew up in Twentynine Palms and since the age of 10, kept personal diaries and journals. The book blends poetic imagery and journalistic prose as Tiffany looks back on her childhood and how the Mojave Desert influenced her life’s paths and perspectives.

Though she is no longer a resident of Twentynine Palms, she often enjoys retreats to her cabin on the boundary of Joshua Tree National Park.

Chris Tiffany’s book is available at the Twentynine Palms Historical Society’s gift shop.
