The Sheriff’s Department has identified the man whose body was found in a fire in Twentynine Palms last week. About 10:15 p.m. Thursday, February 21, firefighters were called to a fire at 70216 Indian Trail in Twentynine Palms. During a search of the residence, firefighters found the body of Timothy Chaffin, 57, in the kitchen area of the home. Deputies learned from neighbors that Chaffin was a transient who was living in the abandoned home. An autopsy will be conducted to determine the cause of death, but there is no indication of foul play. The cause of the fire is still undetermined.
