The coroner’s office has confirmed that remains found in the desert Wednesday were those of a man who had been missing the Fourth of July. Andrew Salazar. Salazar, 25, was dropped off at Hero Market on Old Woman Springs Road about 6 p.m. July 4. About a half hour later, residents in the 55900 block of Boo Lane reported that someone had stolen a pick up truck. Shortly after, deputies found the truck a short distance away with the keys still in the ignition. Salazar’s family reported him missing to the Sheriff’s Department July 9. On Wednesday, July 15, a friend of Salazar went searching for him, starting from where the truck had been found, and found a severely decomposed body in a remote wash area west of State Route 247 and north of Napa Road in Landers, Deputies were summoned at 10:21 a.m. Wednesday. Because of the state of the body, homicide officials were called in to investigate.
