Roadways and the “FP-5 fire tax” will be on the agenda at tomorrow’s (January 11) 10 a.m. meeting of County Supervisors in San Bernardino. Reporter Mike Lipsitz is here with some details…
Among the many items on tomorrow’s agenda, supervisors are obligated to either accept an initiative to Repeal the special tax associated with Fire Protection Service Zone Five or FP-5 or submit the initiative to voters on the June 7 statewide primary or call for a special election in April. In other business, the board is expected to approve an agreement with Twentynine Palms to share preventative maintenance costs on 34 miles of road over the next two years. The county would cover an estimated $2.5 million with Twentynine Palms shelling out just $144,000. Application of a chip seal, while the pavement is in good condition, is considered a cost-effective strategy for maintaining a road’s structural integrity. The project is anticipated to begin this Spring.
Meetings are open to the public, including the remote site locations, for public participation. All scheduled items will be heard in the Covington Chambers of the Board of Supervisors, County Government Center, 385 North Arrowhead Avenue, First Floor, San Bernardino.
