California’s Board of Equalization is required by law to meet with County Assessors at least once a year to discuss the administration of assessment and taxation laws, and ways to promote uniformity statewide. Reporter Mike Lipsitz is here to tell us about this year’s meeting and how you can access it…
The California Board of Equalization’s meeting with County Assessors begins tomorrow, Tuesday, October 19, at 1 p.m. and continues through Thursday. The BOE’s duties include oversight of the state’s 58 County Assessors to ensure assessment practices are fair, uniform, and consistent statewide. At this year’s meeting, the board will receive updates and discuss emerging issues and trends related to property tax administration; this includes focus on the implementation of Prop 19 which aims to ease the property tax burden for older homeowners and some others who relocate within the state. Public participation in the virtual meeting is encouraged. Livestream access will be available through a link at boe.ca.gov.
