BLACK ROCK BRINGS LOCAL PUBLIC HIGH SCHOOL AVERAGE GRADUATION RATE DOWN

The 2017 graduation rates for California high schools were recently released. While both Yucca Valley and Twentynine Palms High Schools exceeded state and county graduation rates, very low graduation numbers from Black Rock High school brought the total Morongo Basin High School graduation rate below the state and county’s average. In a recent news release, San Bernardino county reported a cohort graduation rate of 82.6 percent among high school students for 2017, just one-tenth of a percent below the California state average. Comparatively, cohort graduation rates for high schools within the Morongo Unified School District included Yucca Valley High School with 88.8 percent and Twentynine Palms High School with 83.4 percent, both of which exceeded state and county figures. When the 66.1 percent graduation rate for Black Rock alternative High School was added, the collective graduation rate for MUSD was reported as 81.8 percent.
