In honor of the third annual Latino Conservation Week, the Mojave Desert Land Trust is sponsoring a bilingual plant walk Wednesday, July 20, at the Big Morongo Canyon Preserve in Morongo Valley. The walk will be led by Yani Aldao starting at 8 a.m., and will be followed by a native plants workshop and brown-bag lunch at 11 a.m. Participants will learn how the Serrano and Cahuilla Indians used native plants for medicine, food, shelter, clothing, and rituals. Attendees should bring lunch and water. The event is free.
