The Bighorn Desert View Water Agency Board met in regular session last night. Reporter Mike Lipsitz was there as the board adopted rules, placed tax liens, and counted their Goat Mountain money…
Last night in Landers, the Bighorn-Desert View Water Agency Board of Directors responded to a state mandate and adopted a water conservation ordinance that will go into place now and during future water shortages. The ordinance calls for a four-stage plan to be implemented based on the severity of the water emergency. Specifics on what each stage means for ratepayers will be considered at next month’s meeting. Also last night, the board voted to place property tax liens on 153 excessively delinquent accounts. And under “good news,” the water agency last week received a check for almost $1 million from the County of San Bernardino. The payment represented the reserve fund held on behalf of Special District W-1. The payment finally puts to rest lingering public fear that the county would spend down the reserves and short change Bighorn-Desert View and the ratepayers in W-1, now called the Goat Mountain improvement district.
