BIGHORN DESERT VIEW WATER TO PLACE LIENS ON 113 DELINQUENT ACCOUNTS

Tonight’s meeting of the Bighorn Desert View Water Agency gets underway a half hour early for a special workshop starting at 5:30 p.m. Reporter Mike Lipsitz tells us what to expect…
Following a special defensive driving workshop at 5:30 p.m. directors will convene in regular session with board president Mike McBride in the driver’s seat. First up is a public hearing in connection with 113 delinquent accounts that, together, owe the agency more than $35,000. Following the hearing, directors are expected to approve tax liens on those properties through the county’s secured tax rolls. And in a related matter, the board will authorize write-offs of just $1,500 which has remained uncollectible through property liens dating back to 2010. Also tonight, the board is expected to set the ad valorem tax for the agency’s Bighorn Mountains Improvement District at zero dollars. That action because of the anticipated final payment on a voter-approved bond measure dating back to 1977. It all happens at the agency’s board meeting office under the old water tower on Cherokee Trail in Landers.
