BIGHORN DESERT VIEW WATER LOWERS AND CLARIFIES SOME CHARGES

As expected, board members at the water agency serving Landers and Flamingo Heights last night passed several resolutions which will result in lower costs for new meters and clarify, but not change, other charges. Reporter Mike Lipsitz files this report …

Last night in Landers, the Bighorn-Desert View Water Agency board of directors raised the issue of miscellaneous fees and charges for a number of items, but did not raise any of those fees. The action was intended to consolidate and clarify fees which had already been established in various resolutions in recent years.

These included delinquency fees, paper copies for public information requests, variance application processing fees, backflow test reminder fee, release of unsecured lien for delinquent charges, reversing payments for non-sufficient funds fee, and an unlock fee for meters that have been shut off.

In other actions, the board approved an increase in the basic facilities fee for new one-inch meters and a reduction in the charge for installation of lines associated with those meters. The net of both actions is a $200 decrease in the cost of a new one-inch meter and its connection to the main.
