We all appreciate the convenience of turning on the faucet and receiving clean water in our home. The vast majority of us pay for that convenience on a regular basis, but for those who don’t, there are consequences. That is the main topic up for consideration at tonight’s meeting of the Bighorn-Desert View Water Agency in Landers. Reporter Mike Lipsitz has details …
At tonight’s 6 p.m. meeting of the Bighorn-Desert View Water Agency, the board is expected to review the more than 100 excessively delinquent accounts that together owe more than $50,000 to the small water agency and turn them over to the county accessor where the past due amounts plus related fees and penalties will be attached to the associated properties in the form of tax liens. That action will follow a public hearing on the subject. And in a related matter, the board will likely authorize write-off as uncollectible approximately $3,600 in bad debt dating back to 2011. Those actions and others will follow a closed session on existing litigation scheduled near the beginning of tonight’s meeting. It all happens under the old water tower on Cherokee Trail in Landers.
