At last night’s meeting of the Bighorn-Desert View Water Agency board, directors heard from Mojave Water Agency General Manager Tom McCarthy who emphasized that water agencies must balance and adapt to pressures from the community, the economy, and the certainty of climate change. In other business, the board authorized General Manager Marina West to enter a $73,000 agreement with a firm that will provide paleontological, cultural and biological survey services related to California Environmental Quality Act requirements. That funding and funding for related proposed projects comes from a $500,000 grant awarded the water agency last year. And finally, the board denied a ratepayer request for consideration in connection with a theft-related high water bill. Also last night, the appropriation limit for fiscal 2019/20 was set at $171,000.
