BIGHORN DESERT VIEW WATER BOARD GETS UPDATES ON NEW STATE BILL

New rules for most residential water customers go into effect statewide next month. Those changes dominated discussion at last night’s meeting of the Bighorn-Desert View Water Agency. Reporter Mike Lipsitz was there and files this report…

Last night in Landers, the Bighorn-Desert View Water Agency held a mandated public hearing and board discussion on update of the rules and regulations for water service. That action was in response to Sacramento’s recently enacted Discontinuation of Residential Water Service bill which, beginning February 1, gives California water customers additional time and other considerations between non-payment of a water bill and shut off of their water service. In most cases, that period will increase from 45 days to 80 days. And in a related matter, the board reviewed existing and proposed fees for adoption in the near future.
