The Bighorn Desert View Water Agency met last night. Reporter Mike Lipsitz says a potentially illegal gift was pulled off the agenda and appropriation limits were set…
At last night’s special meeting of the Bighorn-Desert View Water Agency Board of Directors, a resolution to contribute $500 worth of pyrotechnics for Lander’s ”Third of July” celebration at Homestead Valley Park was pulled from the agenda when it came to light that public funds could not be gifted for such a purpose. The Agency will, however, continue the tradition of providing fire protection service for the Independence holiday celebration. Also last night, the board worked with staff to identify a large list of projects for submission to the Mojave Water Agency for a regional water plan in hopes of making some projects eligible for future grant money. Among other actions, the board established the annual appropriation limit at $142,300, kept the ad valorem tax at $176,000, and wrote off $1,900 in bad debt.
