While water districts across the Morongo Basin have cancelled their board meetings in response to the Coronavirus outbreak, the Bighorn-Desert View Water Agency has found a creative way to conduct district business while keeping everyone safe from infection. Reporter Mike Lipsitz tells us how…
Governor Gavin Newsom’s suspension of some requirements of California’s open meeting law last week opened the door to new ways of conducting public meetings in the age of social distancing. Tonight’s 6 p.m. meeting of the Bighorn Desert View Water Agency takes place virtually. Directors, management, and the public will gather on the Zoom meeting platform as the board considers five motions connected to the encroaching COVID-19 pandemic. Among those motions are approval of a temporary operations and staffing plan, activation of the agency’s emergency operations center, and a moratorium on service disconnections and late fees.
For instructions on using Zoom Meeting, go to BDVWA.org, or see below.
The regular board meeting office under the old water tower on Cherokee Trail in Landers will be open for the meeting even though the board will not physically be there. Social distancing of six feet will be observed.
