It was raises all around at the Bighorn Desert View Water Agency last night. Reporter Mike Lipsitz says the new budget also showed a surplus…
At last night’s meeting of the Bighorn-Desert View Water Agency Board of Directors in Landers, General Manager Marina West was granted her requested 16.5 percent increase in salary to $135,000 along with a two-year contract extension bringing her to a full five-year contract, all effective at the start of the fiscal year July 1. The vote was 4-to-1 with Director Dave Larson opposed to the salary increase. Then following a public hearing on the subject, the board gave themselves a 5 percent cost of living adjustment, increasing their per diem compensation $5 to $105 per meeting. Director Larson opposed the adjustment. Also last night, the board directed staff to post the agency’s appropriation limit for fiscal 2013/14, determined to be $142,000. And finally, the board approved a budget for the same period revenues and expenses on target and a projected almost $150,000 surplus.
