BIGHORN DESERT VIEW WATER AGENCY BOARD AND EMPLOYEES GET A RAISE

In a split decision, directors at the Bighorn-Desert View Water Agency last night approved a per diem increase for themselves and a cost-of-living pay raise for staff and management. Reporter Mike Lipsitz tells how everything penciled out…

The water agency’s board authorized a ‘seven dollar increase in director’s per diem pay which raised it to $147.74; directors Mike McBride and Jo Marie McKenzie opposed. Then the board approved a cost-of-living increase of three percent for staff and one-point-six percent for the general manager; also opposed by McKenzie. Turning to maintenance and infrastructure the board tabled award of some upcoming contractor work until the June meeting as management looks for ways to bring down project costs. Last night’s budget workshop showed a $33,000 income increase offset by a $30,000 increase in expenses. In June, the board moves from a fourth Tuesday to a second Tuesday meeting schedule.
