A testy reorganization and a look at new rate increases. Reporter Mike Lipsitz reports on last night’s Bighorn Desert View Water Board meeting…
At last night’s regular board meeting of the Bighorn-Desert View Water Agency, directors reorganized, but only after a tense nominating period and vote. In the end, Larry Coulombe was elected President in a split 3-2 vote with outgoing president Judy Corl-Lorono and vice president Dennis Staley opposed. Later in the meeting, with Coulombe presiding, a preliminary discussion of rate increases focused on a 3 percent increase in the water charges, and a 55 cent increase in the monthly service charge. The earliest that ratepayers would see any increase would be next August. And in a mid-year budget review, the Agency is about at the halfway point as far as projections, as it should be.
