The Yucca Valley High School varsity and junior varsity Trojan football teams came away with two victories Friday night in Indio against Indio High School. Coach Andrew Amosa said the varsity team was tied 8-8 at the end of the first half, but the offense stepped up in the second half, scoring 20 of its 28 points to win 28-11. The Trojan offense had a total of 413 yards for the night. Elijah Lynch led the offensive attack with two touchdown passes and Lucas Lopez had 123 yards on the ground with a touchdown. Receiver Albert Montes-Reyes had four catches for 88 yards and a touchdown.
On defense, Chris Worrell had five tackles and three sacks, while Joe Jennings led the team with six tackles and two sacks. The Trojans are 3-0 on the season in non-conference play.
The Yucca Valley JV team won its game 38-14 against the Rajahs.
