The Sheriff’s Department was alerted recently to a scam involving inmate care packages. A county resident ordered what she believed to be a care package for an inmate from a fake website that claimed to be linked to the San Bernardino County Jail System. The victim’s credit card was charged for the purchase, but the ordered items were not delivered and the website was determined to be a scam website. Commissary items for inmates in the San Bernardino County jail system can be purchased from outside the facility only through the iCare website located at www.icaregifts.com.
