If you have lost your job or have had your hours reduced for reasons related to COVID-19, the State of California and Governor Gavin Newsom have changed the rules to help you in this emergency. Managing editor Tami Roleff explains…
Governor Gavin Newsom has waived the one-week waiting period for unemployment. Workers can receive unemployment the first week of missed work for up to 26 weeks.
If you’re unable to work due to medical quarantine or illness related to COVID-19 (certified by a medical professional), or because you are caring for an ill or quarantined family member with COVID-19, you may be eligible for short-term benefit payments.
If you are unable to do your usual job because you were exposed to and contracted COVID-19 during the regular course of your work, you may be eligible for workers’ compensation benefits.
