There will be a lot of people grilling this weekend and for the Fourth of July. The National Fire Protection Association says that July is the peak month for grill fires. With these tips on grilling safety, here’s Rebecca Havely…
Grilling is one of the most popular ways to cook food. But grills placed too close to the house are a fire hazard.
To cook safely, follow these tips:
Propane and charcoal grills should only be used outdoors.
Grills should not be placed on decks, under eaves, or under tree branches.
If you smell gas while grilling with propane or gas, immediately get away from the grill and call the fire department.
If you use a charcoal grill, don’t add lighter fluid to the fire.
Let the coals cool completely before disposing in a metal container.
Keep children and pets at least three feet away from a grill, and never leave a grill unattended.
