BATTLE CONTINUES TO KEEP SEXUALLY VIOLENT PREDATOR OUT OF SAN BERNARDINO COUNTY

1

A sexually violent predator who was recently denied residence in Twentynine Palms is tentatively scheduled to be placed into a different community in San Bernardino County. In May, Judge Megan Wagner denied the placement of sexually violent predator Lawtis Rhoden into Twentynine Palms and ordered additional properties to be investigated for Rhoden’s potential residence in Orange County and Los Angeles County where Rhoden had initially committed his crimes. Now, Liberty Healthcare has proposed that Rhoden be moved to a residence in the community of Newberry Springs in San Bernardino County. The proposal again raises concerns that Rhoden may not be housed in the county where he committed his crimes. The court date for public comment on the new proposal of Newberry Springs is set for September 2.
