It’s out with the old and in with the new as many residents continue to swap out furniture and other large items in their homes. While many opt to donate their old furniture or bulky items, sometimes those things have just seen better days. For those who need to dispose of bulky items such as couches, tables, and old mattresses, there is no need to drive out to the middle of nowhere and dump them in our beautiful desert. Not only is the practice illegal, but it harms the native plants and animals in the area. If you have to dispose of bulky items that cannot fit in your dumpster, you can contact Burrtec in Yucca Valley to schedule a bulky item pick-up. Burrtec allows pickups of five items or less, twice a year, free of charge. After that, each additional pick up is subject to a fee. Remember, illegal dumping is a crime and if convicted you could lose your vehicle, do jail time and face fines.
