If you travel State Route 60 to San Diego or the Los Angeles area, look out for “the Swarm.” Caltrans will start a 15-week construction project beginning July 22 to repair deteriorated pavement, another project to repair bridges, as well as two interchange projects it calls the 60 Swarm. Eastbound lanes on Highway 60 will be closed between Interstates 15 and 215 for eight weekends—beginning July 26, from 10 p.m. Friday night to 5 a.m. Monday morning, excluding Labor Day weekend. Beginning September 28, westbound lanes will be closed for seven weekends, from 10 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday, excluding Veteran’s Day. There will be no access during the closures and detours will be in place. To assist in planning your route, view live traffic conditions using the Caltrans’ QuickMap phone app.
