City of Twentynine Palms still recovering from storms and flash floods, Adobe Rd. still closed

A few roads are still closed, but the City of Twentynine Palms is making headway in their recovery efforts from the sudden storm over the weekend. As of last night (July 17), Adobe Road remains closed between Raymond Drive and Amboy Road, as crews continue to remove mud and debris from the area. There are additional closures at Bullion Mountain Road north of Amboy Road and Bagdad Highway north of Amboy Road. With a 20% chance of thunderstorms predicted tonight (July 17) by the National Weather Service, the City of Twentynine Palms is still working to recover from this weekend’s sudden and damaging rain storm. Sudden and heavy rainfall on Sunday (July 14) left streets and some homes flooded. As of last night (July 16), several roads in Twentynine Palms remain closed. Suspected burglar poses as contractor and police officer before arrest in Yucca Valley

After being caught during an alleged burglary, a man lied about being a contractor and a police officer before he was forcibly arrested. On Saturday evening (July 13), at around 7:30 p.m., County Sheriff's Deputies were dispatched to a house in the 7000 block of Palm Ave in Yucca Valley. Witnesses told deputies that a man was "angry" and attempting to break into the house, and that they knew he was not the property owner. The man was identified by deputies as Zachary Hayes, 38. …

Tonight’s Morongo Valley Community Services District meeting canceled

Tonight's Morongo Valley Community Services District regular meeting has been canceled. With the General Manager on maternity leave and with no pressing action items, the MVCSD have decided to skip July's meeting according to President Christina Gorke. These regular meetings take place on the third Wednesday of every month, and Gorke said, "We should be back to regular meetings for August."

One dead in collision involving propane truck on Old Woman Springs Road

Twentynine Palms residence fire being investigated as arson

A fire on Thursday (July 11) in Twentynine Palms is being investigated as arson. At around 4:45 a.m., engines from County Fire responded to a structure fire in the 62000 block of Valle Vista Rd. in Twentynine Palms. Crews arrived to find a house and two vehicles on fire, and County Fire was joined by units from the Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center. MUSD holding speech-screenings Monday to Wednesday in Yucca Valley

The Morongo Unified School District continues their speech screenings for preschoolers this summer, this week in Yucca Valley.
