Come August, there'll be a new Sheriff in town. Captain Donnie Miller, who's been the Chief of Police for Yucca Valley and Twentynine Palms for the last four years, will be retiring August 10. A recount of ballots cast for the new 8th Congressional District is going on today. The County registrar of voters said Republican candidate Phillip Liberatore, requested a recount of 24 precincts.
