SERVICES SET FOR ALAN ANTHONY Alan Anthony, a 67-year resident of Twentynine Palms, died Sunday, January 20, 2013. He was 67 years old. Alan Anthony is survived by his wife Life, stepdaughters Tracey Nolte of Joshua Tree, and Elizabeth Roy of Buckner, Missouri; brother Edward Anthony of San Bernardino; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. The Twentynine Palms High School Girls' Varsity Basketball team defeated the Big Bear Bears Tuesday, 53 to 15, to stay undefeated in league at 5 and 0. The 'Cats overall record is 17 and 5. Coach Tim Stanford said nine different Wildcats scored, and the team played outstanding defense. JOSHUA TREE RECREATION BASKETBALL AND TENNIS REGISTRATION SATURDAY

This Saturday from 9 to 1 p.m., the Joshua Tree Recreation and Parks District Office will be open to accept registrations for the Spring Basketball and Team Tennis Programs. Sport seasons will begin the week of March 11 and last eight weeks long. All practices and games will be played outdoors at Sunburst Park in Joshua Tree. TRANSITION JOSHUA TREE OFFER RAINWATER USE WORKSHOP

Transition Joshua Tree is sponsoring a free hands-on workshop on how to collect and use rainwater. Participants will learn two ways to install rain gutters and water tanks for emergency water supplies and for irrigation. The workshop will be held Saturday, January 26, from 9 to 11 a.m. at Buzzard's Roost, 63593 Walpi Drive in Joshua Tree.
