A Twentynine Palms learned the hard way not to talk on his cell phone without a hands-free device. According to a Sheriff's report, Roscoe Partin, 49, was stopped about 11 a.m. Friday night near Highway 62 and Dumosa Avenue for talking on a cell phone, and for having a loud muffler. The deputy determined Partin was on probation, and during a search of the vehicle, found a glass pipe and small baggy of methamphetamine. Three Twentynine Palms men were arrested early Sunday morning after they were found with drugs and a weapon. According to a Sheriff's report, shortly after 1 a.m., a deputy suspected a drug deal between Brandon Coyer, 22, Christopher Blackler, 22, and Forrest Page, 26, in the 6000 block of Ocotillo Avenue in Twentynine Palms. HIGHWAY 62 REOPENED EAST OF TWENTYNINE PALMS

A section of Highway 62, which has been closed to through traffic since flash flooding washed out portions of the road last weekend, has been re-opened, according to Officer Alex Scott of the California Highway Patrol. Heavy rains and flash floods last Saturday forced Caltrans officials to close the highway between Godwin Avenue just east of Twentynine Palms and Highway 177 in Riverside County.
