A Yucca Valley man was arrested Sunday night, accused of punching his girlfriend in the face. According to a Sheriff's report, Marcelo Mora, 36, got into an argument with his girlfriend of 13 years over family issues. The girlfriend told deputies Mora punched her in the face with a closed fist, and deputies noted swelling and redness to the left side of her forehead. Flash flooding on Tuesday forced the closure of a two-mile stretch of Highway 62 in Twentynine Palms. Caltrans closed the 62 from Godwin Road to Highway 95 just west of the Arizona state line. The road was closed until early Wednesday morning. "There was a lot of mud debris across the roadway that we had to clean up," said Caltrans spokeswoman Terri Kasinga.
