The Twentynine Palms High School Ladycats faced off with Palm Springs High School last night. The JV team lost in two sets, 17-25 and 15-25. Emma Avalos served up three ace serves. Bear causes Morongo Valley hiker to go off-trail, requiring helicopter rescue

A hiker was rescued by helicopter near Morongo Valley this weekend after fleeing from a bear and getting stranded. On Sunday (August 18) just after noon, a hiker contacted emergency personnel after an extended hike went awry. The hiker told the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department that on Saturday (August 17), they were hiking in the area of Mission Creek Preserve near Morongo Valley when they spotted a bear. Sex offender in Twentynine Palms arrested for suspected child pornography

A registered sex offender in Twentynine Palms was arrested for suspicion of possessing obscene materials featuring a minor is due in court today. On May 21, the San Bernardino County Probation Department contacted a convicted sex offender on post-release community supervision. Probation officers say they contacted Zhataviyus Lord, 30, at a residence on Adobe Road in Twentynine Palms. Wonder Valley motorhome fire under investigation, no injuries

A motorhome fire in Wonder Valley caused no injuries and is currently under investigation. At around 10:45 a.m., a fire in the 5000 block of Godwin Rd. in Wonder Valley was called in to 911. Yucca Valley “ghost gun” seized during van search and arrests

​​Two convicted felons were arrested on suspicion of having a “ghost gun” in Yucca Valley. On Thursday morning (August 15) around 4 a.m., a deputy from the Sheriff’s Morongo Basin Station conducted a security check on an occupied van parked near the intersection of Balsa Ave and Maki Ave in Yucca Valley.
