Copper Mountain College enrollment climbs back to pre-pandemic levels

As many other community colleges did, Copper Mountain College suffered from a decline in enrollment during the Covid-19 pandemic. Fire Hydrant torn from street in Morongo Valley on Wednesday

A fire hydrant was stolen in Morongo Valley Wednesday morning (August 21), causing $15,000 dollars in damage. According to information provided by the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department, some time early Wednesday morning, an unknown person or people wrapped a chain around a fire hydrant at the intersection of Lanning Lane and Elm Lane in Morongo Valley. Free First-Responders Pancake Breakfast tomorrow at Little Church of the Desert

The Little Church of the Desert is celebrating our community's first responders with a free pancake breakfast tomorrow morning. The event is put on by the church to show their appreciation for those keeping the Morongo Basin safe. Sheriff’s vehicle rolls over, deputy injured on Hwy 62

Early this morning (August 21), a Sheriff's vehicle was involved in a rollover collision in Yucca Valley, leaving a deputy with minor injuries. The San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department reports that at around 5:20 a.m., a deputy was driving a marked vehicle while on patrol near the intersection of Twentynine Palms Highway and Sage Ave in Yucca Valley. Cottonwood Visitor Center and Campground closed in JTNP due to bees

The Cottonwood Visitor Center, parking area, restrooms, and Cottonwood Campground in Joshua Tree National Park are temporarily closed due to increased bee activity. In the summer, water becomes scarce and bees seek water sources just like our other park wildlife. However, this can include condensation dripping from your car’s air conditioner, bathroom areas, or even sweat on visitors. Mil-Tree has also released a video on their one-act play “Tapestry” which had a one-night engagement at the Joshua Tree Retreat Center in May.
