Cottonwood visitor center and campground reopened in Joshua Tree National Park

The Cottonwood visitor center and campground in Joshua Tree National park has been reopened as of Tuesday. The southern entrance had closures to the campground and amenities due to an increase in thirsty bees looking for water. The bees have moved on, and human beings are welcome back into the area. Ladycats Volleyball come up short against Cathedral City despite solid plays and digs

The Twentynine Palms Ladycats volleyball teams traveled to Lions territory last night in Cathedral City. The JV team fought hard but came up short for the win. Felon suspected of jumping fence, falling asleep in Twentynine Palms backyard

A felon with an active warrant was allegedly found sleeping in a backyard in Twentynine Palms. On Thursday (August 22) at around 10:15 p.m., County Sheriff's deputies from the Morongo Basin station received a report from a homeowner saying someone had jumped over her fence. Deputies responded to the home in the 6000 block of Adobe Rd. and say they found a man sleeping in the yard. Deputies reported waking up the man and identified him as Andrew Garcia, 27. The Yucca Valley High School Trojans made a statement in their season opener, defeating Arrowhead Christian 21-19 in Redlands. Major General found deceased at Combat Center died from natural causes

Military.com has reported that Maj. Gen. William Mullen died from natural causes. Major Mullen was found dead on June 29 at the Roadrunner Inn on the Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center in Twentynine Palms. A fire in Yucca Valley was put out without injury, though there was damage to the property. On Saturday (August 24), just after 11 a.m., a vehicle on fire in a driveway at a residence off Richard Dr. in Yucca Valley was called in to 911.
