Yesterday morning (October 23) at around 7:41 a.m., County Sheriff's deputies from the Morongo Basin Station responded to a report of a woman with a firearm near the intersection of Airway Ave and Primrose Drive in Yucca Valley. Deputies say it was there that they contacted Cynthia Alderson, a 38 year-old resident of Yucca Valley. Bureau of Land Management lifts campfire and shooting restrictions on managed lands

The Bureau of Land Management's California Desert District is now allowing safe campfires and target shooting on BLM-managed land throughout our area, and elsewhere in San Bernardino, Los Angeles, Orange, and Riverside counties. Use of campfires, barbecues and gas stoves on BLM-managed public lands will be allowed with a valid California campfire permit. Each year, the Town of Yucca Valley Recreation Department holds their Youth Basketball program, and registration for the 2024-25 season is officially open. The identity of a motorcyclist killed in a collision on the Morongo grade Saturday morning (10/19) has been released by the Riverside County Coroner. Steven Sullivan, a 61 year-old resident of Huntington Beach, was riding a motorcycle eastbound on Highway 62 one half mile east of Indian Canyon Drive in Desert Hot Springs. 2024 Orchid Festival raises nearly $40k for local Morongo Basin nonprofits

The Yucca Valley Sunset Rotary Club celebrated the remarkable success of the 28th annual Morongo basin Orchid festival. At last week’s meeting, festival organizer Chris Gubler announced that nearly $40,000 was raised. A large part of the proceeds came from Gubler Orchids, who donate all the money from the sales of orchids at the event to the Rotary Club.
