The identity of a motorcyclist killed in a collision on the Morongo grade Saturday morning (10/19) has been released by the Riverside County Coroner. Steven Sullivan, a 61 year-old resident of Huntington Beach, was riding a motorcycle eastbound on Highway 62 one half mile east of Indian Canyon Drive in Desert Hot Springs. The Yucca Valley Sunset Rotary Club celebrated the remarkable success of the 28th annual Morongo basin Orchid festival. At last week’s meeting, festival organizer Chris Gubler announced that nearly $40,000 was raised. A large part of the proceeds came from Gubler Orchids, who donate all the money from the sales of orchids at the event to the Rotary Club.
