Mark the date: May 6 will be auditions for this year’s Theatre 29 Summer Youth Theater production. Special Correspondent Las Taylor has details on the show…
With “Ragtime” set to open May 3 at Theatre 29, auditions for the next show of the season has been announced and this should be a fun one! Director John Wright and his assistant director Lizzie Schmelling will present “The Perils of Goldilocks” as a summer Youth Theatre production. The show, actually a compilation of two one-act plays, will be preformed primarily by the young actors of the area and will run from June 28 to July 27. The directors are looking to cast 20 performers ranging in age from eight through adult with limited parts for the eight to ten year old range. Open auditions will be held at Theatre 29’s main stage Monday May 6 at 6:30 p.m. Many of the actors will play multiple roles as the show looks at the adventures of everyone’s favorite cat burglar that got her into trouble in the first act. Act Two finds Goldi in the courtroom facing trial for her indiscretions, Will Goldilocks be found guilty and sent to prison or will the real truth come out? Either way the show promises to be lots of fun and offers a great summer experience for our area’s youth. More information and audition sides can be found at the Theatre 29 website, Theatre 29.org. The theater is on Sullivan Road in Twentynine Palms, one-half block west of Adobe.
