Director Katie Fleischman will cast “The Glass Menagerie” at the 6 p.m. auditions Monday, June 24 at Theatre 29. The four-character memory play includes three family members, abandoned by their husband and father: Amanda Wingfield, a proud woman clinging to memories of a refined past; her children are Laura and Tom. Laura is painfully shy and socially inept; she wears a leg brace and walks with a limp. Tom is an aspiring poet who supports the family by working in a shoe warehouse. Jim O’Connor is an acquaintance of Tom’s who takes an interest in Laura.
Actors should prepare a one-minute monologue; you may also be asked to read excerpts from provided scripts.
“The Glass Menagerie” will run weekends from August 9 to 25.
