Theatre 29 is casting the musical comedy “Don’t Hug Me, I’m Pregnant.” Reporter Rebecca Havely has all the audition details…
In the musical comedy, “Don’t Hug Me, I’m Pregnant,” an October snow storm in Bunyon, Minnesota, traps bar owner Clara Johnson—who’s 8 ½ months pregnant—with a cast of comic characters. They include her strong-willed husband Gunner Johnson; Arved Gisselsen, a fast-talking karaoke salesman; an oblivious business man, Kanute Gunderson; and an ex-waitress, Bernice Lundstrom, who dreams of singing on Broadway. Director Marty Neider and musical director Kathryn Ferguson will cast three men and two women in these roles Monday, March 14, at 6:30 p.m. at Theater 29 located at 73637 Sullivan Road in Twentynine Palms. Actors should be in their 20s to 40s and all have or be able to learn a Minnesota accent.
“Don’t Hug Me, I’m Pregnant” will run from May 6 through June 4 with performances Friday and Saturdays at 7:00 pm., and 2:30 Sunday matinees are set for May 15 and May 20. Tickets are available on line at theatre29.org or by calling the Theatre 29 Box Office at 760-361-4151.
