Open auditions for “Disney’s Mary Poppins” take place tonight Monday, January 16 from 6 to 9 p.m. at Theatre 29, 73637 Sullivan Road in Twentynine Palms. The casting calls for 16 featured characters, two children and a dance ensemble; all roles are open. The featured roles include Mary Poppins and Mary’s friend, Bert the chimney sweep. The Banks’ family includes Mr. George Banks, Mrs. Winifred Banks and their children Michael and Jane, who must look 9 to 11 years old. The Banks’ staff includes Katie Nanna, Mrs. Brill, Robertson, and Miss Andrew. Other neighborhood characters include Admiral Boom; Mrs. Corry; Neleus, the Park Keeper; neighbor Miss Lark; and the Bird Woman. Please prepare 32 bars of a Broadway style song, no pop please. Provide background music on an electronic device or on a CD. Dress to move, tap experience a plus.
