Director Charles Harvey seeks a cast of 25 for “Jesus Christ Superstar.” Featured roles include the passionate Judas Iscariot; he’s 20s to 30s with a rock tenor voice. The character of Jesus is also 20s to 30s and a rock tenor; he’s as much a religious leader as a pop culture idol. Mary Magdalene is 18 to 30; she’s sweet with an edge and has a mezzo folk voice. Caiaphas is a high priest with a low bass voice. The snake-like high priest Annas is a rock tenor. Both the thoughtful Pontius Pilate and the charming King Herod are baritones. Simon is reckless and extreme, he’s a rock tenor. The musical has a large singing ensemble of apostles, soldiers, priests and people of Judea.
