Theatre 29 will hold open auditions tonight for the modern Broadway musical comedy, “First Date, The Musical” Reporter Rebecca Havely shares the cast of characters…
Tonight Monday, March 5, at 6:30 p.m. on the Theatre 29 mainstage Director Charles Harvey will cast five singers in “First Date, The Musical.” Opposites attract in this romantic musical comedy. Aaron is a Jewish New Yorker and Casey’s a cool girl. They’re on their first date; he’s charming, but nervous; she’s delightfully controversial. They’re both in their 20s to 30s. He’s a tenor, and she has a strong belt mix. Man #1 and Man #2 both play several roles from a womanizer to a gay best friend, and a British rocker bad boy to super-Christian dad. Woman #1 plays many roles as well from a sexy ex- to a Jewish grandmother. Come dressed to move and prepare 16 bars of a Broadway show tune. Bring a non-vocal backing track on CD, mobile device, or phone; speakers will be provided.
“First Date, The Musical” will rehearse weeknights until its opening on April 27 and run Friday and Saturday evenings and Sunday afternoons through May 20. Please also attend auditions if you’re interested in volunteering backstage, with technical assistance or costuming.
