Theatre 29 will hold open auditions for the modern Broadway Musical, “First Date, The Musical.” Reporter Rebecca Havely shares all the roles to be cast…
Director Charles Harvey will cast five singers: two females and three males in “First Date, The Musical.” Opposites attract in this uproarious romantic, modern musical comedy. Auditions are set for Monday, March 5, at 6:30 p.m. on the Theatre 29 Main Stage. Aaron is a tenor in his late 20s to 30s. He’s an investment banker and a Jewish New Yorker, charming but nervous. His blind date Casey has a belt/mix; she’s in her late 20s to 30s. She’s daring, bold, and delightfully controversial. Man #1 plays several roles, from Aaron’s womanizer best friend to Casey’s gay best friend, to a stoner dude. He’s any ethnicity and is between 25 to 40. Man #2 is 35 to 45 years old, and also plays many roles, from Casey’s super-Christian dad to a British rocker bad boy. Woman #1 is a soprano with a belt mix. She plays Aaron’s sexy ex-fiancé and his dead Jewish Grandmother, plus Casey’s sassy sister.
Come dressed to move and prepare 16 bars of a Broadway show tune. Bring a non-vocal backing track on CD, mobile device or phone; speakers will be provided.
“Blind Date, The Musical” will rehearse weeknights until its opening on April 27 and run Friday and Saturday evenings and Sunday afternoons through May 20. Please attend auditions if you’re interested in volunteering backstage, assisting with technical assistance or costuming.
