Attempted murder suspect shoots at deputies in Yucca Valley stand-off

Sheriff’s Deputies were fired upon during stand-off with a suspect in an an attempted murder at a house in Yucca Valley Friday night (December 8).

At approximately 7:36 p.m., a 55 year-old man from Yucca Valley dialed 911 to report that he had been shot at inside of a house in the 3000 block of Inez Ave in Yucca Valley. 

Deputies from the Sheriff’s Specialized Enforcement Division were dispatched, and say that they were able to enter the house and rescue the victim. The suspect in the shooting, identified by deputies as Kevin Armstrong, a 59 year-old resident of Yucca Valley, was also in the house.

Deputies report that they were shot at several times by Armstrong during what turned into an hours long stand-off. They say Armstrong barricaded himself inside the house, and, with the intervention of crisis negotiators, Armstrong eventually left the house and was taken into custody.

Kevin Armstrong was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and booked into the Morongo Basin Jail on $1,000,000 bail.
