ATTEMPTED ARMED ROBBERY IN JOSHUA TREE WEDNESDAY NIGHT

Sheriff’s deputies are searching for a man who attempted to rob a man in Joshua Tree late Wednesday night. According to a Sheriff’s report, an employee of a pizza restaurant in the 61700 block of 29 Palms Highway said he was taking the trash out to the dumpster behind the restaurant when he was approached about midnight by a man brandishing a knife who pushed him against the dumpsters and pressed the knife against the left side of his body, and then demanded his wallet. The victim said he punched the suspect in the face and then pulled out his own pocket knife in self-defense, and was able to get away without any injuries except to his shirt, which had some holes in it. The suspect is described as a white male, about 5 feet 10 inches tall, 200 pounds, short hair, and wearing blue jeans, a black sweatshirt, and a black bandana over his face.
