BoxoHOUSE in Joshua Tree is the local venue for BoxoProjects, where artists learn, obsess, and make art inspired by the desert. Managing Editor Tami Roleff describes a residency that starts this weekend…
A new artist-in-residence will be coming to BoxoHouse in Joshua Tree. Heather Johnson will ride her motorcycle from her home in New Jersey to Joshua Tree, looking for inspiration for her embroidery artwork along the way. For her residency project, “In Search of the Frightening and Beautiful,” she will collect texts, artifacts, and other memorabilia from the places she visits. Her residency at BoxoProjects in Joshua Tree will be from April 21 through May 21, with an open house of her works in progress on Sunday, May 12. Her completed projects will be on display in New York City later this year. BoxoHouse is located at 62732 Sullivan Road in Joshua Tree.
