The spring Art in Public Places exhibition is entitled “Desert Hues.” The group exhibition will feature work by desert artists in oil and acrylic paintings, works on paper, mixed media, photography, ceramics and three-dimensional art. An opening reception will be held Friday, April 1, at the Twentynine Palms Visitor Center at 73484 29 Palms Highway in downtown Twentynine Palms. The public is invited from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. to view the exhibition, meet the artists, enjoy music and refreshments and admission is free. A special musical treat will be provided by Darrell Shade and Dahlia Vamstad, with classical duets for bass clarinet and oboe. The show will be on display through June 24. Art in Public Places exhibitions are presented quarterly by the Public Arts Advisory Committee of the City of Twentynine Palms and feature themes intended to illuminate the desert experience and showcase the rich artistic resources of the Morongo Basin.
