With more than 100 pieces of art, Saturday’s art auction benefit for Reach Out Morongo Basin was a huge success. Executive Director Robin Schlosser said the third annual auction, held at ArtFx & Furnishings in Old Town Yucca Valley, raised $6,671 for the charity’s programs for seniors and the disabled. The first two years, the art auctions were held in December, but Schlosser said the date was moved to May this year and it was tied in with the Old Town Merchants’ First Saturday event. Along with the spirited bidding, there was food and drink, and live music by the Luminators and The Last Second Band.

Guillermo the Gila Monster was one of highlights of the Auction and had the distinction of having the highest bid of the day.
