ARSON BLAMED FOR FIRE IN VACANT YUCCA VALLEY OFFICE

Fire investigators were called to a fire in a vacant building in Yucca Valley last night. About 9:30 p.m., firefighters responded to the 58200 block of 29 Palms Highway for an audible fire alarm. Smoke had filled the building, but when firefighters opened the doors, the smoke dispersed; the building’s sprinkler system had put out the fire prior to the firefighters’ arrival. Investigators believe squatters had started the fire in a large pile of trash and debris inside the building.
