AN ARREST AFTER A SHOOTING IN THE LANDERS AREA

A Landers area man is behind bars, accused of attempted murder. About 10:30 p.m. Monday night, Ronald Salazar, 25, was at the home of Danny Horath, 27, in the 300 block of Cherokee Trail in Flamingo Heights, when he said Horath pulled a gun and shot him twice, in the shoulder and abdomen. Salazar called the Sheriff’s department to report he’d been shot, but when deputies went to the scene, they found no victim, no evidence of a crime scene, or any witnesses to the shooting. About three hours later, the Sheriff’s Department was called by Desert Hospital in Palm Springs saying they had a patient who said he’d been shot in Landers. A deputy went to the hospital and interviewed Salazar, who was very uncooperative, and signed himself out of the hospital against medical advice. Deputies obtained a search warrant Tuesday and searched Horath’s home. After an investigation, Danny Horath was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon, and violation of his probation. He was booked into the Morongo Basin Jail with his bail set at $1 million.
