Johnson Valley man suspect in attempted murder where two Yucca Valley residents set afire

A Johnson Valley man was arrested for investigation of attempted murder after setting two Yucca Valley residents on fire.

On June 19, at approximately 1 a.m., County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to the Hi Desert Medical Center regarding two burn victims, identified as a 30 year-old male and 29 year-old female, both residents of Yucca Valley. The male victim suffered life threatening injuries and was transported to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center for more advanced treatment. Both victims have since been released from the hospital and continue to recover.

Based on information provided by the female victim, Detectives from the Morongo Basin Station and the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Arson/Bomb Detail responded to the scene of the crime, in the 52000 block of Cholla Road in Johnson Valley. Detectives say they located additional evidence which identified Joshua Kaiser, a 32 year-old resident of Johnson Valley as the suspect and sought a warrant for his arrest.

On Wednesday (July 5) deputies contacted Kaiser on Old Woman Springs Road, near Mira Street, during a vehicle check. Joshua Kaiser was arrested for investigation into attempted murder and booked into the Morongo Basin Jail with bail set at $1 million.
