An argument over moving a phone charging cable led to an arrest of an Arizona man who is accused of attempted murder in Morongo Valley. Deputies were called to a home in the 10900 block of East Drive in Morongo Valley about 1:30 a.m. Monday morning for a domestic disturbance. The victim said Edward Novak, 27, pulled out a knife and lunged toward him and tried to stab him when Novak discovered his phone charging cable had been moved. The victim also said he thought he was going to die when Novak held him in a choke hold for a couple minutes, and put the knife to his neck. The victim had redness and a small laceration on his neck. Novak fled the scene when deputies arrived, but deputies located him at the Chevron gas station in Morongo Valley about 5:30 a.m. Novak allegedly admitted to deputies that he did pull a knife on the victim and choked him. Edward Novak was arrested for investigation of attempted murder, booked into the West Valley Detention Center, with his bail set at $1 million.
